Anyone who knows me knows how much I love a good quote. The right words, at the right time, can distill wisdom, spark inspiration, or express complex ideas in a way that stays with you.
Whenever I’m facing a challenge, I often turn to my collection of quotes for guidance and reassurance. The best quotes don’t always come from scholars or great thinkers - they can come from anyone, anywhere, capturing simple truths in profound ways.
So today, I’m sharing a few of my favorite quotes with you. Let me know if any of these resonate with you.
Marc’s Favorite Quotes
The incredible poet and activist Maya Angelou once said,
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
Another poet, Amanda Gorman said,
“Change is made of choices, and choices are made of character.”
Albert Einstein left us with so many great quotes, but this is one of my favorites:
“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”
Thomas Jefferson sure had a way with words. He said:
“I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.”
Sometimes we can feel like we’re stuck in a slump. But the great Babe Ruth provided some perspective by saying,
“Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.”
When the weather of life feels a little damp and dreary, Dolly Parton said,
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” (Did you hear those words in her voice like I did?)
I could not post this article without including a quote from the inspiring 13th century poet Rumi who said,
“Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.”
Have you made a few mistakes lately? Yeah, me too. But leadership expert John Maxwell reminds us:
“If you aren’t making any mistakes, it’s a sure sign you’re playing it too safe.”
Carl Jung provided a rather poetic quote on the importance of exploring our inner shadows. He said:
“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”
Here’s one from perhaps one of the most quotable people of all time, Marcus Aurelius who said,
“The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts.” (This is why we should pay attention to our self-talk, folks!)
Let’s finish up on a light-hearted note with this quote from the one and only Phyllis Diller who said,
“I want my children to have all the things I couldn’t afford. Then I want to move in with them.”
Well, I could do this all day!
And that’s me, just checking in!
